How do we share ideas here without them being stolen? ^_^ (IP Protection)

Lawrence,
I would advise that, in my limited experience, ideas aren't typically worth much. The value comes in the work of implementation, and the more work that is done the less the theft of the idea matters. In fact, as more work builds up it's better that more and more people know the idea.

Ultimately, if you're not comfortable with people knowing about an idea yet, then don't bring it to the table. Surely there are still lots of things we can all learn from each other.

Best,
Rick

Agreed!  After years of exploring new ideas, I recommend sharing your idea with anyone who'll listen & solicit their feedback.  Ultimately, very few (nobody?) people will be as excited or passionate about a new idea as you are.

Once you have a product and are in the evolution phase, well - then ideas should be protected.  Those aren't so much ideas as innovation roadmaps.

Cheers!

This concern comes up every year, naturally. The straightforward answer is that once you put your idea on here or pitch it at NSW you will not have any more legal right to it than anyone else until you have a copyrightable brand established. So like Rick said, if you're not comfortable with that then just participate on others' ideas. You'll still get incredible value from this community and event.

That said, the reality is that those who desire to start something already have one if not a catalog of ideas that they want to focus on. Meaning that the people without ideas are usually not very interested in leading a startup. Additionally and more importantly, as Rick said, it's about the team behind the idea and not the idea. So even if someone where to copy your idea, that doesn't stop you from being able to do it better.... competition will always exist.

There is an endless supply of opportunity out there with a very limited supply of leaders with the ability to capitalize on them.
