Open source, hosted software for a "second opinion" on election. Because government needs as much transparency as it can get and I don't trust DieBold or our government.
- Needs some type of authentication / identification mechanism so dead people, non-existent people can't vote
- Source code is open so that independent software developers can verify there is nothing funny going on
- Build a web service (API) first, then build modules on top of that (ie vote from Facebook, vote from Mobile, etc.)
Cities, companies, states, clubs or national governments could sign up to host an election. You either download the software and host it yourself or you pay a monthly hosting fee. You also take donations.Just because it's open source doesn't mean it can't make money ; ) Wordpress is open source and the Automattic guys are sitting pretty.
